Javier Piñón

Javier Piñón's collages poke rustic fun at the propaganda of classical and American mythologies in a postmodern age. His cast of cowboys, Medusas, saints, and fine furnishings depict trial and promise with film noir attention to gusto, gruesomeness, and attraction.

Born in Miami and based in Brooklyn, Javier Piñón has exhibited nationally and internationally after earning his MAT from the Rhode Island School of Design, Providence, RI. Additionally, he has held the Bauernmarkt Residency, Lenikus Collection, Vienna (2008) and was the 2002 recipient of an Artist Fellowship from the New York Foundation for the Arts.
